Heat wave conditions intensify in parts of Odisha

Heat wave conditions intensified in many parts of Odisha today with the mercury rising above 40-degree Celsius mark in at least 13 places as Titlagarh became the hottest at 43 deg C.

Titlagarh in western Odisha recorded the highest temperature in the state at 43 degree Celsius followed by 42.9 degree in the industrial town of Angul, the meteorological centre said here.

The mercury touched 42 degree Celsius in the coal town of Talcher as well as Balangir in western region, while the state capital Bhubaneswar recorded 40.8 degree Celsius, the MeT office said.

The maximum temperature at Bhawanipatna, the district headquarters town of Kalahandi district, was recorded at 41.5 degrees Celsius, while it was 41.2 degree at Jharsuguda.
 

Both Malkangiri and Sonepur recorded 40.6 degree Celsius, while the maximum temperature at Sambalpur and Hirakud stood at 40.4 degree Celsius. Both Sundargarh and Keonjhargarh recorded 40 degree Celsius.

The MeT office said similar weather conditions would prevail till April 24.
