Strong winds accompanied by heavy rains lashed some parts of Punjab and Haryana, including Chandigarh.
Chandigarh was pounded by heavy rains (46.6 mm) last night, a MeT Department official said.
Strong winds also lashed the Union Territory, resulting in temporary power outages at some places.
In Punjab, Mohali witnessed 40 mm of rain, Amritsar 25.4 mm, Gurdaspur received 15.2 mm, Anandpur Sahib 7 mm while Ropar got 15 mm of rain.
In Haryana, Panchkula received 14 mm of rainfall, Yamunanagar 15 mm, Ambala 12.3 mm and Naraingarh witnessed 8 mm.
The mercury dropped by a few notches after the showers.
