Herald protest: Injured CM leads march on wheel chair in Uttarakhand

A memorandum for Pranab Mukherjee was submitted to Governor K K Paul demanding end to politics of "vendetta" by Centre

Congress workers hit the streets across Uttarakhand today over what they alleged the "Centre's politics of vendetta" against the party top brass in National Herald case, with Chief Minister Harish Rawat saying that BJP will never succeed in "tarnishing" the image of party leaders.

The chief minister led a march to Raj Bhawan on a wheel chair due to injury to his leg.

A memorandum addressed to President Pranab Mukherjee was also submitted to Governor K K Paul demanding that the politics of "vendetta" by the Centre must stop.

Accompanied by party leaders, including PCC chief Kishore Upadhyay and ministerial colleagues, Rawat later told reporters that the BJP will never succeed in its design to tarnish the image of party leaders.
 

Protest demonstrations were also held in different parts of the state including Nainital where party workers gathered at the bus stand to burn the effigy of the Modi government and raised slogans against it.
