Hooda congratulates new Army Chief

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today congratulated General Dalbir Singh Suhag, who hails from Haryana, on taking over as Army Chief.

Gen Suhag hails from Bishan village in Haryana's Jhajjar district.

Hooda wished good luck to the new Army Chief and said, "We are proud of our brave soldiers as every tenth soldier in the armed forces hails from the state."

Hooda hoped that the Indian Army would further strengthen and emerge stronger under the leadership of the new Army Chief and this would also inspire more youth from Haryana to join the Armed Forces.

59-year-old Suhag, a Gurkha officer who had participated in the 1987 Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) operation in Sri Lanka, was till now the Vice Chief of Army Staff.
 

He will have a tenure of 30 months as the 26th Army Chief.
