HR and CE takes over temple as per HC order

The Navagraha temple at Navapashanam, a famous pilgrimage centre, has been formally taken over by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department officials as per the Madras High Court order.

HR and CE Department said officials took control of the temple and also cleaned its surroundings which was surrounded by dirty clothes and fungus.

G.Selvi, Executive Officer of the Vettudaiyal Amman temple, Kollangudi,has been appointed as the "fit person of the temple."

A division bench of the Court's Madurai Bench, comprising Justice V. Ramasubramanian and Justice N. Kirubakaran, had on November 13 directed the local panchayat president to hand over the temple to the Fit Person appointed by HR and CE Department.
 

A report would be filed before the court on December 3 on steps taken to implement the suggestions made by the Advocate Commissioner, officials said.

Selvi said cleanliness would be given top priority.Four priests who were well-versed with 'Agama' rules would be appointed.

As pe legend, Lord Ram installed stone idols of Navagrahas in the sea and offered worship to them before launching a war against Ravan.
