Illegal liquor seized, one held in Muzaffarnagar

One person was today arrested and illegal liquor seized from his possession near Kawal village area of the district, Excise officials said.

In a drive to check supply of illegal liquor in the wake of upcoming panchayat polls, a team of Excise officials today intercepted a vehicle and seized 47 cartons of liquor, District Excise Officer Karundra Singh said.

While one person was arrested in the action and a pistol recovered from his possession, his accomplice fled from the spot, the official told newsmen.

During further interrogation the accused confessed to supplying illegal liquor, Singh said.
