Jeweller arrested for murdering girlfriend who blackmailed him

A city jeweller has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing his girlfriend, who allegedly tried to blackmail him, the Nagpur rural police said here today.

Allegedly, one Gajanan Tinkhede who runs a jewellery shop in Dwalamethi on the outskirts of the city was sexually exploiting a salesgirl of his shop.

Later, Tinkhede got her married off to one of the employees in his shop and allegedly also continued his relationship with the woman.

Meanwhile, she allegedly began blackmailing him and Tinkhede allegedly decided to get rid of her.

Yesterday, Tinkhede took her to Ramtek, near here and allegedly strangulated her.
 

To cover up his crime, he allegedly tried to mislead the police initially claiming that she had met with a fatal accident and brought her to a private hospital which refused to admit her.

This prompted him to take her to the Government Medical College Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

However, the post-mortem revealed the strangulation and Tinkhede was arrested along with the husband of the deceased woman, the police said.
