A five-year-old local boy was

rescued by police from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh and a youth employed with his father has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping him, police said today.

"Prasad Porje, son of Sampat Porje (40), was rescued from Jabalpur and his captor, identified only as Raju, has been arrested. Prasad was reunited with his family this morning," Ashok Bhagat, incharge of Upnagar police station said.

He said the boy, a resident of Vadner Dumala here, was allegedly abducted by Raju on April 9 after luring him under the pretext of offering him chocolate.

Surprisingly, Prasad's father, who is in dairy business, did not have any identity documents of Raju who has been working with him for last three months, except some snaps of him in his mobile phone.

Police traced Prasad and Raju to Jabalpur after the latter called up Sampat's brother Dhanaji on his mobile phone and demanded Rs 25 lakh in ransom.

"A police team was sent to Jabalpur where they traced Raju and Prasad while they were travelling in a horse cart yesterday," Bhagat said.

Police suspect that Raju kidnapped Prasad after his father denied him Rs 20,000 which he had sought as loan.
