KPLT ultra nabbed with pistol

A Karbi Peoples Liberation Tiger militant was apprehended with a pistol and ammunition following an encounter with police in central Assam's Karbi Anglong district today, a senior police official said.

The militant, identified as Mensing Tokbi, fired at a police patrol party in Model Village under Manza police station around 12.30 pm, district superintendent of police Mukdhajyoti Mahanta told PTI.

The police also retaliated but none was injured and the extremist was taken into custody with the pistol, seven rounds of ammunition and extortion demand letters, Mahanta said.

Investigations are on, he added.
