Labourer commits suicide by jumping from 4th floor of hospital

Dejected over the serious injuries his wife suffered in an accident, a labourer allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of a private hospital here today.

Police said S Ranjith, a daily wage labourer from Amaravathy in nearby Tirupur district, had got his wife admitted to the government hospital at Udumalpet, where they referred her to the government hospital here.

However, the man got her admitted to a private hospital, where she was under observation at the Intensive Care Unit, police said.

They said the man jumped from the fourth floor of the building at around 2 AM. He was immediately taken to Coimbatore Medical college hospital, but died en route, police said.
