Labourer from Raj stranded in Iraq

A man from this district of Rajasthan is stranded in war-torn Iraq and has not contacted his family for the last five days, his family claimed.

Umesh Kumar, who works as a labourer in Iraq since December 2013, last contacted his family five days ago and told them that his residence is located at a distance of 200 km where firings are taking place, his father Banwari Lal said.

Kumar, who hails from Bagad area of this district, informed his family that he was not getting food and people have stopped venturing out of their homes.

Kumar is married and has one child.
 

Many Indians are stranded in the Iraqi cities of Mosul and Tikrit, which have been captured by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) insurgents.
