Leopard killed in UP

A leopard was today killed

after being hit by an unidentified vehicle on Nanpara- Lakhimpur road falling under Katarniyaghat wildlife division here, a WWF official said.

The incident took place this morning when the leopard, aged around two and a half years, was hit by the vehicle, project officer of WWF Dabir Hasan said.

A forest department team has reached the spot and a panel of three doctors will conduct the post mortem, he said.

In the Katarniyagaht reserved forest area spread over 400 sq kms in the terai belt of the state there are some 32 leopards according to the last census in 2005.
