Mamata should stop dreaming about national politics: Ghosh

Flaying Trinmaool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee's efforts to lead the opposition attack against the Modi government on demonetisation issue, state BJP president Dilip Ghosh today said she should "stop dreaming" about playing a role in national politics.

"Mamata Banerjee should stop dreaming about national politics and concentrate in her own state. It seems only she is shouting at the top of her voice against the issue of scrapping notes. Other political parties including JD(U), BJD had supported the move," he claimed.

"Why is she so rattled? Demonetisation of higher-value notes was done to create troubles for black money hoarders and their supporters," Ghosh said.

"She should first manage her own state. Under TMC and Banerjee's appeasement politics, West Bengal has turned into a safe heaven for jihadis," Ghosh alleged.

The state BJP chief also criticised Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad's comment by drawing a comparison between Uri terror attack and demonetisation in terms of people's death and demanded an apology.

"The comment is an insult to the valour of the armed forces. We condemn such comments. We feel that he should tender an apology," Ghosh said.

Speaking in the Rajya Sabha yesterday, Azad had said 40 people had died following government's decision on demonetisation and added that fewer had been killed in the attack by Pakistani terrorists in Uri.
