Masaba Gupta's first Satya Paul line to open WIFW Fall 2013

Satya Paul appointed the 24-year-old as fashion director late last year.

"Fashion Design Council of India is proud to announce that the upcoming Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Fall 2013 will begin with a fashion show by Masaba Gupta for Satya Paul.

"Her first collection for the 27-year-old label will be the opening show of the five-day fashion event. In India, this is the first collection designed for an established design house by a designer from outside the family that started it," said Sunil Sethi, President FDCI.

"I am truly honoured to open the fashion week in my new home city. It is a coveted spot, and I am committed to creating a collection that does this slot, as well as the house of Satya Paul, proud. I am excited, and deeply thankful to FDCI, Satya Paul, for this opportunity," said Masaba, daughter of actress Neena Gupta.

 

The five-day event will begin on March 13.

Masaba launched her eponymous label in July 2009. She created a diffusion line catering to women from the age group of 25-50 years. The silhouettes are known to be no-fuss, simple, and commercially viable, yet of high cut and fashion.

Masaba's first collection, Kattran, debuted at Lakme Fashion Week under the GenNext category for Spring Summer 2010.
