The BJP today said that the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has given a clear message to criminals to either mend their ways or be ready to face the consequences (sudhro yaa bhugto).

"The Yogi Adityanath government is working continuously to rein in the criminal elements in the state. The rule of law, which had vanished during the previous regimes of the SP and BSP, has been established by our government," said UP BJP spokesperson Manoj Mishra in a statement here.

According to the statement, three dreaded criminals were killed in 23 encounters across the state and as many as 34 criminals were arrested in the last 72 hours.

"In the 15 years of misgovernance by the SP and BSP, criminals enjoyed political patronage, and a jungle raj was prevailing in the state," Mishra said.

"The police, which once had looked helpless under the political pressure, swung into action after Yogi Adityanath's government removed political pressure from them," he claimed.
