Naxal killed along Andhra-Odisha cut-off area

The BSF has killed a suspected Naxal and recovered ammunition after an encounter in the jungles of Malkangiri district that fall along the Andhra- Odisha cut-off area, the paramilitary today said.

The encounter took place at about 7:00 am in the forests on Lukapani on the Badapada-Janbai axis of the district, when a Border Security Force patrol detected movement of Maoists in the area.

"Body of an unidentified male Naxalite along with one SLR (self loading rifle), two bullet-holding magazines and 54 live rounds was found after a brief exchange of fire.

"On further search of the area a powerful IED (improvised explosive device) was recovered hidden under the boulders," a BSF spokesperson said.
 

The spokesperson said it was after a long time that security forces launched an operation in the cut-off area of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
