New Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court

Justice Dhananjaya Yashwant Chandrachud was today appointed as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court.

A former Judge of the Bombay High Court, Justice Chandrachud (53) will take over from Justice Sheo Kumar Singh who was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court on October 21.

A graduate of St Stephen's College, Delhi, he had been appointed as Additional Solicitor General of India in 1998.

Justice Chandrachud was appointed as Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court in March, 2000.
