Nickel rises by 0.3% as demand picks up

Speculators enlarged positions, supported by rising demand from alloy-makers in the spot market

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Nickel prices gained 0.35% to Rs 893.40 per kg in the futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions, supported by rising demand from alloy-makers in the spot market.

Besides, a firming trend in select base metals at the London Metal Exchange supported the upside.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in March moved up by Rs 3.10, or 0.35%, to Rs 893.40 per kg in a business turnover of 19 lots.

In a similar fashion, the metal for delivery in current month traded higher by Rs 2.30, or 0.26%, to Rs 885.40 per kg in 495 lots.

Analysts said enlarged positions by speculators on rising demand from alloy-makers in the spot market and a firming trend in metals overseas mainly influenced nickel prices at futures trade.
