NRI woman commits suicide by jumping from high-rise building

A 30-year-old NRI woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping from a high-rise building of Crossing Republic society in Vijay Nagar area here.

Ankita, who had come to India from Canada about 15 days back, jumped off the 14th floor of the building yesterday, police said.

She was apparently upset over the failure of the talks between her parents and her boyfriend's family regarding their marriage, according to police.

Ankita was a fashion designer and worked with a multi-national firm. Her parent's reside in Anand Vihar area of Delhi.

Around 9:45 pm, Vijay Nagar police got information that a woman's body was lying in a pool of blood in the compound of Tower Number GH-7 of Crossing Republic.
 

A suicide note was recovered from the site, police said.

In the note, Ankita said that no one was responsible for her suicide and she had taken the extreme step as she did not want to live, police said.

"Ankita also mentioned of Ajit in her suicide note, who is doctor. She said in her suicide note that her body should be cremated by Ajit," Hardayal Yadav, Station Officer, Vijay Nagar said.

Police will soon interrogate Ajit, who is a resident of Dilshad Garden of Delhi, added Yadav.

Police, however, are yet to probe as to how she had ended up in the Crossing Republic compound.
