Odisha government today expressed hope of forging collaborations with Chinese businesses during the 'Make In India Conference' (MII) to be held here on December 1 and 2.

It is expected that such collaborations will carry forward the state's industrialisation drive, an official statement said.

Chief Secretary A P Padhi today held discussions in this regard with representatives of the India China Trade and Culture Centre and S K Roy, Commerce Secretary, Indian Consulate, Shanghai.

Sarat Kumar Sahoo, Chairman, Odisha Industry Federation was also present on the occasion.

Chinese representatives said they are encouraged by the new IPR policy and ease of doing business initiatives in Odisha.

Padhi requested them to bring investors from sectors like light engineering, electronic products and food processing during the event as Odisha has lot of scope in these segments.

"They (China) have proposed to come up with a group of 30 potential investors," the release said.
