Odisha to set up 51 new courts

In its bid to give speedy justice to the people in the state, the Odisha government today decided to set up 51 new courts including ten civil judge courts (senior division) to deal with cases related to crimes against women.

The new courts would be set up as per recommendation of the Orissa High Court, said law minister Arun Kumar Sahoo.

The ten new courts to deal with cases related to crimes against women would be set up at Cuttack, Puri, Ganjam, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Sambalpur, Balangir and Mayurbhanj, the minister said.

Sahoo said it has also been decided to set up five civil judge courts at Pipili, Khariala, R Udaygiri, Birmaharajpur and Basudevpur.
 

The government has decided to set up another 26 civil courts (junior division) in various places across the state.

The state government has also approved 11 posts including the post of judge for each court, he added.
