An under trial prisoner in the district prison had been admitted to the government Wenlock hospital here after he consumed overdose of medicines, police said.
The prisoner, Biju alias Jose(31) belonging to Thiruvananthapuram was arrested recently by the Railway Protection Force personnel during a theft attempt at the railway station here.
The person, who had been taking medicines for certain ailments, told prison officials yesterday that he had taken an overdose of tablets and wanted to be admitted to hospital.
He was taken to the hospital and the doctors provided him first aid before being shifted to the prison section of the hospital, Police said.
Biju told the police that he had taken excessive dose of medicines to 'get well soon' and that it was not a suicide attempt.
