Pakistani troops today violated ceasefire as they resorted to "unprovoked" firing from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu region, the defence ministry said here.
"Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing across the LoC in Sawjian sector of Poonch district since 9:15 am," Jammu-based defence spokesman Lt Col Manish Mehta told PTI.
"Our troops have also responded with equal force using equal caliber weapons," he added.
The firing lasted for 5-10 minutes, he said.
Mehta said the Pakistani Army has been intermittently firing with small automatic weapons since the morning, prompting the Indian Army to retaliate.
