People pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at his 'temple' in Odisha

Press Trust of India Sambalpur (Odisha)
Hundreds of people today visited the 'Gandhi Temple' here to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of his death anniversary.

People offered flower and sang devotional songs in front of the bronze statue of the Father of the Nation in the 40-year-old temple, built by a Gandhian and a former MLA Abhimanyu Kumar in 1974, at Bhatra in the district.

"Every morning people of this locality assemble here to offer prayer to Gandhiji," said Kalia Bag, priest of the temple.

"Gandhiji is worshipped here every day as I offer puja and recite text from the 'Bhagavad Gita'," he said.
