PM express shock over deaths in Uttarakhand cloudbursts

The Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia of two lakh rupees to the next of kin of each of the deceased and fifty thousand rupees each to those seriously injured.

Cloudbursts in Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag districts have claimed at least 80 lives in less than two months.

While 28 people were killed in a cloudburst that hit Uttarkashi in August, 52 people lost their lives in Ukhimath and Jakholi areas of Rudraprayag district last weekend.
