Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed shock at the loss of lives in the blaze in Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh.
"My thoughts are with those who lost their loved ones in the fire at Chhindwara. The incident is shocking beyond words," he tweeted.
At least 14 people were charred to death in the major fire that broke out during sale of kerosene oil and various food grains at a fair price shop, officials said.
About three dozen people were inside the building and many others standing in a queue outside at the time of the incident, the officials said.
