PMK functionary killed, five arrested

Within a few hours of the murder of a PMK functionary near the Collectorate here today, police arrested five persons in this connection.

Tirumalaivasan, PMK's Union Secretary in Kandamangalam, was murdered by some persons belonging to the youth wing of a little-known organisation in the afternoon, police said.

Five persons have been arrested in this connection, they said, adding that issues relating to sand quarrying in the area and political enmity were believed to be the reasons behind the incident.
