PMK chief ministerial candidate Anbumani Ramadoss today alleged the Tamil Nadu government's decision to remit the life imprisonment for seven convicts in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case had been taken with an eye on the May 16 assembly elections.

A similar decision was taken just before the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 also, he told the reporters here.

On formation of alliance for the elections, he said the PMK has already made it clear that it did not want any alliance while it was confident of fighting the polls alone and there was no question of bargaining with anyone.

However, he said,"If any party was willing to accept his leadership, it is welcome."

Accusing DMDK President Vijayakanth of "lacking political ideology or policy' and attempting to bargain for seats in the coming assembly elections, he asked whether he (Vijayakanath) had the guts to announce that he will not form alliance with the dravidian parties.

Vijayakanth was bargaining with DMK, Congress, BJP and also Four-party Peoples Welfare Alliance, which amounted to lacking political policy or ideology, Ramadoss alleged.

Claiming that PMK was pursuing "scientific politics, with "decent, development and positive campaign", he alleged the ruling AIADMK and DMK were pursuing negative campaign by posting ads against each other through social network.
