Poacher nabbed with arms near Pobitora

A poacher has been nabbed with weapons during a joint operation by police and Assam Forest Protection Force (AFPF) near Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam's Morigaon district.

The poacher, identified as Nur Islam (45) was apprehended from Pateki village adjacent to Pobitora, which has the highest density of rhino population in the country, forest sources said.

A rifle and a hand-made gun were seized from him, they said, adding that his associate fled away and a search operation was launched to track him out.
