Puducherry Lt"Governor Kiran Bedi today called for "dedicating at least a part of the May Day (May 1) for manual work as proclaimed by the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi."
"International Workers Day, also known as May Day is a celebration of working class which contributes enormously to nation building. It is on the labour class the economic foundation of the nation rests," Bedi said in her message.
She wished working class joy and prosperity in their lives.
Bedi will spearhead a "shramdhaan programme" at the 500-year old Aayi Pond (a water body) in neighbouring Muthirapalayam tomorrow.
