Prohibitory orders in Pobitora sanctuary to control picnickers

The Morigaon district administration today imposed prohibitory orders in Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, restricting entry of picnic parties that disturb animal habitation.

District administration sources said prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC was imposed in and around the Sanctuary with immediate effect and it would continue till further order.

During this week of the new year, and estimated 50,000 picnickers and tourists visited the sanctuary, causing sound and other environment pollution.
