A prominent trader has been kidnapped by armed miscreants from his residence at Naharlagun, near here last night, the police said today.
K P Chako, who runs a bakery chain in the state capital, was dragged out from his residence by the unidentified miscreants who had come in a vehicle registered in Assam, Capital SP Seiju P Kuruvilla said.
He was fired upon when he refused to accompany them before he was forced into a car parked near the building along the helipad road and whisked away, the SP said.

The miscreants also took away his car, he said.
On being alerted, a police team rushed to the spot to find a pool of blood on the first floor of the building and launched a search operation, the SP said.
Both the abandoned vehicles were recovered from Hoj-Potin road, he added.
Chako, hails from Kottyam district of Kerala and was a trader for about last three-decades in the state capital.
In a separate incident, a vehicle of the NETV correspondent here was stolen in the early hours today, police said.
Yuvraj Mehta, the correspondent had parked his car in front of The Aruachal Times office, police said.
An FIR was lodged at Itanagar police station and a manhunt launched to nab the thieves whose photographs were captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the newspaper office, the sources added.
