Punjab trader's minor maid dies of poisoning

A minor girl, working as a maid at the house of a local trader, today died after allegedly consuming a poisonous substance, police said.

Sapna (17) worked in the house of trader Dharmpal Kochhar at Geeta Bhawan Road here, they said.

She was admitted to hospital in a serious condition and she died.

In a complaint lodged with the police, Sapna's mother Baby has alleged that her daughter was given poison by the owner of the house.

She has alleged that Sapna's employers had recently accused her of theft.

Police said the matter is being investigated.
