PWD officers giving contracts to relatives: Somaiya

Relatives of over a hundred officials of Maharashtra Public Works Department have got government contracts, BJP leader and former MP Kirit Somaiya alleged here today.

"Officers and engineers are giving contracts for certain works to their relatives which is not allowed under the law," Somaiya said at a press conference.

He said he would submit a list of such officials to the Governor shortly, and demanded a Special Investigative team to probe the matter.

Recently, Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested two PWD officials in Nashik division for bribery, and found that they had amassed assets worth several crores of rupees.
