Rain today lashed several places in Punjab and Haryana even as maximum temperatures hovered few notches above normal in most parts of the states.
Chandigarh, joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, today recorded a maximum temperature of 36.3 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, the MeT Department said.
The city received 3.3 mm of rainfall.

In Punjab, Amritsar's maximum settled at 35.7 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, while Ludhiana and Patiala recorded maximum temperature of 36.4 degrees Celsius and 35.5 degrees Celsius respectively, upto 4 notches above normal.
Patiala and Ludhiana received 4 mm and 0.6 mm of rainfall respectively.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 37.2 degrees Celsius while Hisar and Karnal recorded maximum temperature of 36.2 degrees Celsius and 35.4 degrees Celsius respectively, upto three notches above normal. Hisar recorded rainfall of 13.6 mm.
Narnaul recorded a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius.
In its forecast, MeT department said rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at few places in the two states over the next 24 hours.
