Ranee Narah takes charge as MoS for Tribal Affairs

She was inducted in the Union council of ministers yesterday.
The MP from Lakhimpur constituency began her political career with Congress in 1995 and became general secretary, vice-president, and president of Assam Pradesh Youth Congress in a short span of time.
She is also a prominent face of the young brigade of Congress in Assam.
"She was elected to the 12th Lok Sabha in 1998 and re-elected to the 13th Lok Sabha in 1999 and 15th Lok Sabha in 2009. Narah was the Member of Consultative Committee in the Ministries of Communications, Petroleum and Natural Gas," a official release said.
She was also member of various important committees like committees on Urban and Rural Development, Defence, Transport, Tourism and Culture. She was also the captain of Assam women's cricket team, the release said.
A graduate from Gauhati University, Narah was active in sports since her college days and represented Assam in volleyball, weightlifting, shot put, discus throw and cricket.
