Ration shop supplier, helper sentenced to 10 yrs RI

A local court today sentenced a ration shop supplier and a helper in Siddanur area to 10 years Rigorous Imprisonment for murdering a man in 2006 over non-supply of items.

The prosecution case was that the duo murdered the 34-year-old man on June 26, 2006 after an altercation over essential commodities not being supplied to him.

The mother of the deceased moved the Madras High Court, seeking a CB-CID probe into the murder.

The court in 2010 had directed that the case be handed over to CB-CID.They were arrested soon after.

District Judge M Ravindran today convicted both the accused and sentenced them to 10 years RI.
 

He also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on each of them.
