Rs 3 cr worth drug seized by NCB

The Narcotics Control Bureau today seized Rs three crore worth Methamphetamine and arrested two persons for allegedly trying to traffic it to Malaysia.

Acting on specific information, officials intercepted Javeed Basha (28 years) and Sadiq Basha (33) and seized 2.98 kg of the drug in the early hours from Chennai Central Station, NCB's Zonal Director, Prem Anand Sinha, said.

He said Javeed Basha was trafficking the seized contraband from North India at the behest of Sadiq Basha by train. They were brothers.

"It is learnt that the Methamphetamine was to be further trafficked to Malaysia. Enquiries are being conducted with the arrested persons to find about the wider drug trafficking network behind it," he said in a release.
