Second seed Sachika enters quarters

Second seed Sachika Balvani survived a scare to edge past unseeded Amita Gondi in the women's pre-quarter finals at the Otters Club Squash here on Wednesday.

Sachika from Maharashtra advanced to the last eight after registering a hard fought 10-12, 11-6, 8-11, 12-10, 11-3 victory over her opponent from Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, after starting his men's campaign on a high, Maharashtra's Rahul Baitha also started his U-19 campaign with a thumping victory over unseeded Ashwin Krishnan.

Baitha won 11-2, 11-3, 11-1 and advanced to the boys U-19 quarter finals.

In another match, Maharashtra's Shlok Makhija suffered the same fate as Ashwin at the hands of second seed Tushar Shahani from Maharashtra.

 

Shahani, who is also eying dual titles, finished off his game in under 30 minute defeating Makhija11-3, 11-3, 11-4 on his way to the quarterfinals.
