Tarun Roy, known as an associate of Ghosh, was questioned by CID for about three hours here, the headquarter of West Midnapore district.

Neither Roy nor CID said anything about the questioning, but CID sources said the CPI(M) leader, who is also the party's district secretariat member, was asked about his alleged involvement in the case.

Charged with two murder cases following the recovery of skeletons, Roy had been absconding for long.

About a month ago, after the Supreme Court ordered that he could not be arrested till further orders, Roy informed CID that he was in Midnapore and would cooperate with the agency in its investigation in the cases.

Susanta Ghosh, a CPI(M) MLA, had been granted bail by the Supreme Court on February 3. He was arrested by the CID for his alleged complicity in the murder of Ajay Acharya, whose son filed an FIR following the discovery of a skeleton.

Seven skeletons were dug out from a pit in a field near Ghosh's ancestral house at Benachapra in West Midnapore district. DNA tests proved that one of the skeletons was that of Acharya. In the FIR, Shyamal Acharya named Ghosh as one of the key accused.

Ghosh had maintained it was a politically-motivated case filed after a new government took over in the state.
