Smriti Irani's supporters celebrate Cabinet berth for her

As BJP's Smriti Irani, who fought Lok Sabha polls from Amethi seat, took oath as Cabinet minister in the Narendra Modi government today, jubiliant party activists and her other supporters here held celebrations and congratulated each other.

The supporters distributed sweets and burst crackers.

Those celebrating included local BJP leaders Daljit Singh, Govind Singh Chauhan and D S Yadav.

"With the induction of Smriti Irani in the Cabinet, the development of Amethi will get a new direction," said Daljit Singh.

Smriti lost the election to Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi.
