Koirala, the 62-year-old leader of the ruling Nepali Congress, feels that the disease is curable as it is in the initial stage.
"I have been diagnosed with the cancer during my recent visit to Malaysia, where I had had medical check-up," Koirala told PTI.

She will probably leave Nepal next week for Singapore for the treatment, according to sources close to Koirala.
Koirala had urged NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba to seek financial assistance from the government for her cancer treatment. Deuba then asked Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal for help, the Kathmandu post reported, citing sources.
Sources said that Koirala has sought Rs 10 million for her treatment, the paper said.
Health Minister Gagan Thapa, however, said he had no information regarding providing assistance to Koirala.
"May be it was channeled through PM Dahal or Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi but I have no idea about such assistance," said Minister Thapa.
