A BJP MLA from Goa today said that he supports the demand of opposition Congress to cull monkeys and wild boars.
"There was a demand by opposition (Congress) to cull monkeys and wild boars which are creating nuisance for the farmers. I support the demand. I am very practical about it," Legislator Siddharth Kuncolienkar, who represents Panaji, said in the state Legislative Assembly today.
"I assure you (opposition benches), I will not take to street calling monkey as avatar of Lord Hanuman and Wild Boar that of Lord Vishnu," he said.
Kuncolienkar said those who oppose the reclassification of coconut plant are simply trying to raise emotional pitch.
Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar yesterday in the Assembly had said that state government is in the process of declaring some animals like monkeys and wild boar as vermin.
