The Telangana government was in the process of obtaining necessary certification for exporting seeds to Europe, a senior government official said Tuesday.

Presently, the state government adheres to OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) standards in seed certification system.

The state would be able to export seeds to Europe if it gets "European Equivalence" (acceptance that Telanganas system is equivalent to European system of certification), state Agriculture Principal Secretary, C Parthasarathi told PTI here.

The government had applied for the certification and a team from the competent European authority would visit the state in October for verification.

"We are preparing for their visit," he said.

Last year, Telangana had exported seeds to countries, including Sudan and The Philippines, under the OECD system, Parthasarathi said.
