The 12-year-old girl also claimed that the teacher, in his mid-40s, threatened her of "dire consequences" if she disclosed the matter, Anirudh Muduli, the inspector in-charge of Jagananth Prasad Police Station, told reporters.
"The minor girl's mother told police that she learnt know about the incident the following day (June 29) when her daughter narrated the ordeal to her and refused to go to school," Muduli said.
The mother and the daughter approached the police yesterday, he said.
Based on the girl's complaint, the police arrested the teacher today under different sections of the IPC and Protection of Child from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act, the IIC added.
