Three fishing boats missing in Bay of Bengal

Three fishing boats have gone missing in the Bay of Bengal due to bad weather, Coast Guard officials said.

The officials said they were running a search and rescue operation since yesterday after receiving reports from Fisheries Department about eight fishing boats missing in the Bay of Bengal.

Out of eight fishing boats, four have returned to harbour safely, while one boat which was stranded due to engine failure was located by Coast Guard ship Raziya Sultana.

The boat along with all the ten crew onboard was provided with necessary assistance and is being towed towards Sagar Island, officials said.
