Two Japanese nationals and a South Korean were arrested from Pokara, the western Nepal's tourist hub, for their alleged involvement in religious conversion, police said on Thursday.

Those arrested on charges of converting local people into Christianity included South Korean Chho Yusyang, Japanese national Jiro Sekiya and Reyko Sekiy, police said.

It is illegal to practice religious conversion according to Nepalese law.

The police recovered from the accused dozens of books and pamphlets including the Bible.

The police have initiated further investigation into the matter by taking the three into custody.
