The farm gate prices of Beetroot during May and June are likely to be in the range of Rs 11 to Rs.13 per kg for hill grown produce and lesser by Re. one to Rs.Two for those grown in the plains, according to Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.
The forecast was the outcome of an analysis carried out in the Nilgiris Cooperative Marketing Society, Mettupalayam, near here, on the prices prevailing for the last eight years, by the Domestic Export and Marketing Intelligence Cell in the University.
Similarly, as per an analysis carried on carrot, the prices are expected to hover around Rs.14 to Rs.16 per kg during the period.
In another econometric analysis, the cell said that farm level tomato prices will start increasing from the second week of March from the present Rs.Three to Rs.Four, prevailing in various centres in Tamil Nadu.
