A 30-year-old man and his minor brother-in-law died of electric shock after they came in contact with a live wire at Gadaumariya village near here, police said today.

"Nandlal Tandon and his brother-in-law Brijlal Baghel (17) accidentally came in contact with a live electrical wire meant for an illegal power connection in Gadaumariya village near Raigarh town last evening," City SP (Raigarh) Satyendra Pandey said.

The incident occurred when the duo were returning their home after celebrating Rakhi festival.

"After celebrating rakhi, the duo went for an outing on a bicycle. On their way back to home, they decided to walk instead of riding the bicycle due to poor road conditions following a heavy rain in the region.

"While walking, they lifted the cycle which came in contact with live wire, leaving them dead on the spot," Pandey said.

The victims were rushed to local hospital, where they were declared brought dead, he said, adding their bodies were handed over to their kin today after postmortem.
