Two persons including a Malaysian have been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold valued nearly Rs five crore at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).
The accused were intercepted by the customs officials after their arrival here from Kuala Lumpur. On detailed examination of their baggage, fifteen bars of gold total weighing 15 kgs having market value of Rs 4.67 crore, which were concealed in the layers of newspapers placed in the bucket of baggage trolley, were recovered, a senior customs official said.
The accused, including an Indian, have been arrested and the gold has been seized.
